David Rodriguez, U.S. Army (Ret.) for “A Discussion on Current International Affairs.”
General Rodriguez served 40 years in the U.S. Army from 1976 as a commissioned officer
from West Point to his retirement in 2016 as a four-star general. He has commanded at
every level across the US Army. His assignments included the Commanding General of the
U.S. Army Forces Command, the International Security Assistance Force—Joint Command
in Afghanistan, the 82nd Airborne Division, the 2nd Brigade, 82nd Airborne Division, and
the 2nd Battalion, 502nd Infantry Regiment, 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault). He also
commanded companies of the 75th Ranger Regiment and the 1st Armored Division. His
foreign tours of duty included Germany, Saudi Arabia, South Korea, Iraq, Afghanistan,
Syria, Kuwait, and, lastly, the Africa Command. Among his awards, General Rodriguez
earned the Defense Distinguished and Superior Service Medals, the Army Distinguished
Service Medal, the Legion of Merit, and a Bronze Star. Besides his degree from West Point,
he holds a Master of Arts in National Security and Strategic Studies from the U.S. Naval
War College, and a Masters of Military Art and Science from the U.S. Army Command and
General Staff College. General Rodriguez was born in Overbrook, Pennsylvania in 1954.
